Retaining Wall

Stepping up a slope a retaining wall could function as shown.  The wall cavity can be filled with dirt and have plants growing which would eventually obscure the wall.  A bit of vertical gardening.  Creating a footing for each wall wythe would be challenging.  It would depend on the terrain and the composition of the subsoil.
