OPEC Sees Infinite Oil Demand Growth. OPEC has published its 2026 edition of the World Oil Outlook, boosting its expectations of crude demand growth, expecting an incremental 8 million b/d of growth between now and 2030, with peak consumption to be reached by 2050 around 124 million b/d.

Yes, climate change will likely continue to increase for a long time because greenhouse gases stay in the air for decades, and global emissions remain high. According to the World Meteorological Organization , Earth is expected to keep breaking temperature records over the next five years. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Why Warming Continues

Trapped Heat: Carbon dioxide and other gases trap heat in the air like a blanket. Even if we stop adding more gases today, the heat already trapped takes many years to clear out.
Ongoing Emissions: Countries around the world still release billions of tons of pollution from burning oil, gas, and coal every year.
Melting Ice and Snow: As the planet warms, white ice and snow melt away. This exposes dark land and water underneath, which absorb more heat and speed up the warming process. [3]

What Experts Predict for the Future

Higher Temperatures: Reports from the United Nations Environment Programme show the planet is on track to pass a critical warming limit of 1.5°C (2.7°F) above past normal levels within the next decade.
Severe Weather: Hot days, heavy rains, dry droughts, and big floods will happen more often and hit harder.
Rising Seas: Melting glaciers and ice sheets will cause ocean levels to go up, putting coastal towns at risk of flood. [2, 11, 12, 13]
